북한 사과성명 전문

조선민주주의인민공화국 외교부 대변인은 위임에 의하여 막심한 인명피해를 초래한 1996년 9월 남조선 강릉해상에서의 잠수함 사건에 대하여 깊은 유감을 표시한다.

조선민주주의인민공화국은 그러한 사건이 다시 일어나지 않도록 노력하며 조선반도에서의 공고한평화와 안정을 위하여 유관측들과 함께 힘쓸 것이다.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK is authorized toexpress deep regret for the submarine incident in the coastal waters of Kangnung, SouthKorea, in September, 1996 that caused the tragic loss of humanlife.

The DPRK will make efforts to ensure that such an incident will not recur and will workwith others for durable peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
