~을 확실히 알고 있다는 뜻으로 get one's feet on the ground라는 표현을 쓴다. become firmly established or knowledgeable라는 의미다. 반대로 get one's head in the clouds는 구름 위에 있어 실제 상황을 모른다는 의미다. get one's feet on the ground는 현실적(realistic)이라는 의미로 쓰이기도 한다.

A: This is the first job for John, but I'm sure he'll soon get his feet on the ground.
